PIANIST | AWARD WINNING COMPOSER
AND SOUND RECORDIST

“I didnʼt think there was anything new that you could do with Round Midnight, but he came up with a new approach!”
Lewis Porter, author of “John Coltrane: His life and music” (USA)

Es sind dies weder abstrakte noch abgehobene Welten, im Gegenteil: Wer sich mit Manzoni auf die Reise begibt,
entdeckt einen leicht zugänglichen, transparenten, melodischen Reichtum. Sensationell.”
Jazz’N’More (DE)

He is a dynamic artist, disruptive, with an energy and freshness of composition worthy of the great international musicians with whom he shares the search for comprehensive expression. A free spirit, versatile and acrobatic artist,
always on the go. Manzoniʼs music has an international flavor. "

New album “Live at Germi”
out on March 14, 2025

On February 16, 2025, in the historic Milanese club Germi - Luogo di Contaminazione, Andrea Manzoni created an unrepeatable musical experience: Live at Germi. This album captures the essence of his art, an entirely improvised sonic journey, uninterrupted, lasting 43 minutes.

The instrument chosen for this performance was not a grand concert piano but a humble Yamaha Upright M1, usually intended for practice. Yet, under Manzoni's hands, this piano transformed into a powerful and dynamic voice, capable of telling stories and evoking deep emotions. The packed hall, the audience in total focus, contributed to creating an atmosphere of intimate connection between the artist and the listeners. The concert unfolded like a stream of consciousness, a musical narrative without boundaries or predefined patterns, where each note found its space in the very moment it was born. With Live at Germi, Manzoni reaffirms his artistic vision: music as a total experience, as an open dialogue between pure art, instrument, and listeners. An album that is not just a live recording but a unique, unrepeatable moment, etched in time and in the memory of those who were there and those who will listen to it.

Migrantes Tour 2024 - Cile, Perù and EU with Mauro Sigura (oud)

The Migrantes Tour 2024/25, a synergy created by Andrea Manzoni and Sardinian oudist Mauro Sigura, kicks off from South America. The musical pluralism of the project is a vibrant and dynamic representation of the cultural diversity and musical influences that permeate their work. The duo embraces a wide range of genres and traditions, blending elements from different musical contexts to create a unique and captivating soundscape.

The sound stands out for its fusion of styles and traditions. Incorporating the driving rhythms and instrumental exchanges typical of European jazz, the duo also explores the evocative sounds of Arab-Ottoman music, adding a distinctive touch that reflects the cultural influences of southern Italy.

The RSI documentary "Come un Meccanico di Formula 1" featuring Andrea Manzoni and Swiss piano tuner Lukas Fröhlich

If one thinks of the quintessential classical instrument, the image that almost inevitably comes to mind is that of the piano, with its 88 black and white keys and its long black tail. However, the piano is not just about classical music and convention. Paganini – on Sunday, June 9, from 10:30 AM on RSI LA1 – dedicates an entire episode to the “alternative piano” with a documentary that tells the story of the relationship between a pianist and his trusted technician (Andrea Manzoni and Lukas Fröhlich).

Equipped with 2 Rycote's HC-15 hypercardioid short shotgun microphones, Manzoni secured a 30-day residency in the remote town of Isafjordur, in the Westfjords. A radio reportage from Iceland’s Wesfjord (RSI)

My episode for the RSI radio show Laser (IT language), which was created during an artistic residency in Iceland's Westfjords.

An adventure in Iceland's Westfjords. More precisely in Ísafjörður.

The author spent 30 days immersed in Icelandic culture, not the summer tourist culture but that of a small community that for most of the year has no way of seeing the sun. The hours of daylight between September and April are not many.

A world far away, populated by researchers studying climate change, which is felt even more aggressively up there.

Music, art and ancient traditions fused with Norse mythology are very important in the community, Laser and I were able to hear the stories, taste the flavours, see the places where the Vikings landed and made this land of fire and ice their home.

Fatherhood.
This is not a story with a happy ending, not a motivational tale, it is not the story of a distant past that can be watched from a brighter future with melancholic tears in the eyes.
It is the story of a dream, it is a story of love, it is a story of pain.
Noah is my translation in music of the past months, of what it means to chase the fleeting dream of nourishing a life with your own, the joy within the hope, the tearing pain of a secret mourning.
I cannot find words to tell this story: music has always been my way of telling stories. This album is my own way to throw another little rock in the sea, a tiny-huge piece of me which could never believe to have a voice and which can now be sound.
